Lake fishing in the heart of Småland

With the Tourist Fishing Card you can fish for 1 or 2 weeks, within Högsby Municipality, in 27 different lakes and running water courses, teeming with pike, perch, zander, bream and tench, to name a few. Some of the fishing waters are found in the beautiful Emån River valley near Högsby, and some are embedded in the magical wilds surrounding Allgunnen, Grönskåra and Fagerhult. Lake Allgunnen

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx. 1 km, turn right at Staby and drive for about 12 km along the road to Allgunnen-Aboda Klint.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, White Bream, Carp, Common Bleak, Tench, Ruffle, Whitefish, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Bream

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing or trolling.

Minimum size: Zander less than 40 cm must be returned to the lake.

Protected areas: The eastern part of Lake Bruddesjön and the southern part of Lake Kalven are not included in the permit. The fishing border line is marked on the lake map as well as with wooden stakes in the lake.

“Right of Public Access”: The owners of fishing rights and land around Lake Allgunnen assume that the responsibilities and duties accompanying our Swedish outdoor rights are respected when fishing.

Other: Lighting fires on rocks is prohibited! Please don’t litter!

 

The Badebodaån River 1

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx. 1 km, turn right at Staby towards Allgunnen-Aboda Klint. After approx. 10 km, at the 4-road crossing at Sinnerbo, turn right and drive 5 km towards Grönskåra, then left towards Flatehult.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

The Badebodaån River 2

Directions:

From Grönskåra: The section of the Badebodaån River referred to flows near Road No.125, between Grönskåra and Århult.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak,Tench

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling and fly-fishing. Max 2 fishing rods are allowed to be used simultaneously.

Minimum size: Zander or Pike less than 40 cm must be returned to the river.

“Right of Public Access”: The owners of fishing rights and land around the Badebodaån River assume that the responsibilities and duties accompanying our Swedish outdoor rights are respected when fishing.

Other: Do not park your car where it hinders or inconveniences local residents alongside the river.

 

Lake Bjärssjön

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx. 1 km, turn right at Staby towards Allgunnen-Aboda Klint. Approx. 12 km along, keep right at the Allgunnen crossing and continue towards Aboda Klint-Kråksmåla (2 km).

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Carp, Common Bleak, Ruffle, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream

Lake Björkhultssön

Directions:

From Grönskåra: Take Road No.125 towards Fagerhult. After approx. 3 km, at Björkshult, turn left towards Pikaböl.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Tench

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing and trolling. Max 2 fishing rods are allowed to be used simultaneously.

Minimum size: Zander or Pike less than 40 cm must be returned to the lake.

Lake Boasjön

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 23 towards Växsjö. After approx. 9 km, turn left towards Grönskåra and after a further 8 km turn left at the Lilla Klo crossing.

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing and trolling.

Lake Broasjö

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 23 towards Fagerhult. After approx. 18 km, turn right and drive towards Fågelfors. After around 3 km you’ll see the lake on the left hand side of the road.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach

Fishing rules:

The Emån River – lower end

Directions:

From Högsby: The section of the river referred to begins in the middle of Högsby and flows close to Hwy 34, between Högsby and Ruda.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, White Bream, Carp, Tench, Chub, Ide, Common Bleak, Eel, Catfish, Trout, Sea Trout

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Eel

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling and fly-fishing.

Protected species: The Tourist Fishing Card does not permit you to fish for Trout. Catfish is a protected species. Trout and Catfish must be immediately returned to the river.

Minimum size: Eel less than 55 cm must be returned to the river.

Protected areas: Along certain stretches of the river, fishing from the shore is prohibited. These stretches are marked on the river map and must not be entered. Fishing from boats or canoes is however allowed within these areas.

“Right of Public Access”: The owners of fishing rights and land around the Emån River assume that the responsibilities and duties accompanying our Swedish outdoor rights are respected when fishing.

Other: Do not walk on fields with growing crops, and treat fences with respect. Do not park in such a way that it hinders or inconveniences farming vehicles or other traffic.

 

The Emån River – upper end

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 23 north towards Oskarshamn. After approx. 2 km, turn left towards Drageryd – Blankan.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, White Bream, Carp, Tench, Chub, Ide, Common Bleak, Eel, Catfish, Trout

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Tench, Eel

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling and fly-fishing.

 

Protected species: The Tourist Fishing Card does not permit you to fish for Trout. Catfish is a protected species. Trout and Catfish must be immediately returned to the river.

Protected areas: For shore fishing along the western side of The Emån River, along the stretch from Dalby to the Blankaström Power Station, special permission from the landowner is required. This stretch is marked on the river map. Fishing from boats or canoes is however allowed within these areas.

“Right of Public Access”: The owners of fishing rights and land around the Emån River assume that the responsibilities and duties accompanying our Swedish outdoor rights are respected when fishing.

Other: Do not walk on fields with growing crops, and treat fences with respect. Do not park in such a way that it hinders or inconveniences farming vehicles or other traffic.

 

Lake Feresjön

Directions:

From Fagerhult: Drive south through the village, turn right at the 4-road crossing and take Hwy 23 towards Åseda. After approx. 600 metres, turn left towards Uddaryd – Övraholm for about 1.5 km. Turn left again towards Sjöborgen.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Tench

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing and trolling. Max 2 fishing rods are allowed to be used simultaneously.

Minimum size: Zander or Pike less than 40 cm must be returned to the lake.

Lake Grytsjön

Directions:

From Grönskåra: At 4-road crossing in Grönskåra, take Road No.125 towards Alsterbro. After approx. 5 km, turn left towards Bjärshult. After approx. 2 km, turn left at the sign: Dalströmsvägen.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Tench, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Lake Kiasjön

Directions:

From Fagerhult: Drive south through the village, turn right at the 4-road crossing and take Hwy 23 towards Åseda. After approx. 600 metres, turn left into the road towards Uddaryd.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Tench, Ruffle

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Zander

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing and trolling. Max 2 fishing rods are allowed to be used simultaneously.

Minimum size: Zander or Pike less than 40 cm must be immediately returned to the lake.

Lake Mörtesjö

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx. 1 km, turn right towards Allgunnen-Aboda Klint. After a further 10 km, at the 4-road crossing at Sinnerbo, turn right towards Grönskåra (5 km).

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Tench, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Lake Kleven/Kvillern

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx 1 km, turn right at Staby, towards Allgunnen-Aboda Klint. After a further 12 km, keep right at the Allgunnen crossing and continue towards Aboda Klint- Kråksmåla for about 1.5 km, then turn right towards Aboda Klint.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Ruffle, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach

Lake Kvarnsjön

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 23 towards Växsjö. After approx. 9 km, turn left towards Grönskåra. After a further 9 km, or so, you’ll find the lake on the left hand side.

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Bream, Common Bleak, Burbot, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Lake Lilla Sinnern

Directions:

From Ruda: Drive north through the village, and turn left towards Allgunnen. After approx. 6 km you’ll find the lake on the right hand side of the road.

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, White Bream, Carp, Common Bleak, Tench, Ruffle, Eel

Dominant species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Carp

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 34 towards Kalmar. After approx. 1 km, turn right at Staby towards Allgunnen-Aboda Klint and continue for about 8 km, until you see the lake on your left.

Directions:

From Grönskåra: At the 4-road crossing in Grönskåra, take Road No.125 towards Alsterbro. After approx. 5 km, turn left towards Bjärshult and after a further 2 km, turn left at the sign: Dalströmsvägen.

Species: Pike, Perch, Roach, Bream, Eel

Lake Välen

Directions:

From Fagerhult: Drive north through the village, turn into the road towards Virserum and after approx. 1 km, turn left towards Välenbadet.

Fish population:

Species: Pike, Perch, Zander, Roach, Common Bleak, Tench, Red Carp, Burbot

Dominant species: Pike, Perch

Fishing rules:

Fishing methods: The Tourist Fishing Card permits you to fish with manual equipment, such as spinner, angling, fly-fishing and trolling.

Lake Älmten

Directions:

From Fagerhult: At the church in Fagerhult, turn right towards Farshult and after about 3 km you’ll see the lake on your right.

At this lake, it is possible to fish from a wheelchair.

Directions:

From Högsby: Take Hwy 23 towards Växsjö. After approx. 9 km, turn left towards Grönskåra and after a further 7 km left again towards Bössehäll.
